There's Beauty and Freedom in being your own Boss. As CEO of your own company, you set your schedule, prioritize commitments, and evolve your job description at will. This arrangement shines for those with multiple passions, allowing you to scale various aspects of your work as needed—ideally balancing them for a sustainable work/life harmony. Reality, however, follows different rules. Those of us juggling diverse talents often face converging deadlines and commitments. Spring brings renewal and fresh energy, but also an avalanche of simultaneous events. Your "career cup" quickly "runneth over," much like grocery shopping without a cart—what began as gathering a few items becomes a precarious balancing act as you navigate to checkout, hoping nothing crashes to the floor. This has been my life these past two weeks. Planning and editing Practical/Applied Anatomy classes has added hours to my schedule—work I love, but time-consuming nonetheless. Add several local events requiring significant energy, and something must give. After careful consideration, I'm taking a short break from Sunday Missives. Though I cherish writing and designing mini-workouts for you, creating under duress diminishes quality. For the next 2-4 weeks, expect either brief communications or temporary silence from your Sunday inbox. I Do have Offerings for You, though: If you're local to Monterey: Join me at the Monterey Museum of Art Block Party on Sunday, April 5th. I'm creating an interactive art installation with my friend Hanif Wondir that will blow your mind ( in the most playful of ways). Want to Move with Me? I'm covering two dance classes for Lillian Barbieto during her family vacation:
Experience a fusion of dance and movement exploration that unlocks bodily freedom. Note: These intermediate-level classes require previous dance or movement experience. Coming in May: "Resilient by Design" @Pilgrim's Way Secret Garden and Bookstore —an experiential talk and guided embodiment practice. Learn to unwind physical tension, regulate your nervous system, and build structural resilience through movement, breath, and awareness. Available in-person or via Zoom, with recording provided. Not on California's Central Coast? Join my 3-day Jedi Spine Tricks workshop in Seattle (June 20-22, details coming soon) or my online classes. Registration remains open for Practical Anatomy and Applied Anatomy (livestreams Monday and Thursday through April 17th). Actual footage from this week's Applied Anatomy Class below Today's Video Gift is Special: My "Thread of Curiosity" talk from Creative Mornings last winter. Discover how pulling one thread transforms an entire fabric—just as physical and creative patterns interweave to shape our experience. Through this interactive journey, you'll explore the connections between physical tension, creative blocks, and personal growth, finding how curiosity can unravel stuck patterns and open new pathways. Until we connect again, I invite you to practice the art of necessary pause. Notice what happens when you allow yourself the space to breathe between commitments. Perhaps in embracing the wisdom of temporary retreat, we discover new depths of creativity waiting just beneath the surface. With movement and gratitude, Domini Anne |

Last weekend, I made a special trip up to San Francisco to work on a dear friend who’d recently fallen off a giant boulder onto equally rocky terrain. Four weeks post-fall, she was still struggling—every movement laced with pain and restriction. The moment I walked through her door, I noticed the change. Strain on her face. Sluggishness in her body. A bit of weight gain. Drooping features. She looked… older. The vibrant, brilliant spirit I’d met at Esalen a few years ago seemed buried beneath...
🌀 Coming this June: The J.E.D.I. Spine Tricks Trilogy3 days. Whole body. One radically intelligent movement experience. Let’s play a game. Raise your arm. (Go ahead, I’ll wait.) Now ask yourself:“Did I raise my arm… or did I just shrug and fling the whole shoulder girdle into the abyss?” If you’re not quite sure—you’re not alone. Most of us, even the hyper-aware ones, tend to generalize movement. We move around our stiff places instead of through them. Our brains are built for efficiency....
Some days, the pain was so extreme I began to wonder if I was going to need surgery. My typically agile and resilient body had been replaced with one that experienced fear with every step. Bending my knees more than 90 degrees caused me such extreme pain that I was afraid my femur might actually break. No amount of strengthening, athletic braces or kinesiotape seemed to help the situation and I began to avoid any kind of workout that involved impact, speed or bodyweight training because of...
